Believe it or not, but the chief medical officer at Laguna Seca is Doctor Rossi, but his name is Raymond and not Valentino. After the regular check at the mobile clinic, Dr. Rossi declared both Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa fit to race, so they hopped aboard their prototypes and hit the track.
However, both riders have been very careful during the first two free practice sessions, as both of them are riding with injured collarbones. Pedrosa even skipped the FP1, which was dominated by Cal Crutchlow. The Spaniard joined the other riders in FP2, with Marc Marquez being the fastest.

Crutchlow had major grip issues in the second FP and was only the 5th fastest. Lorenzo came in 6th and Pedrosa did not take any risk, finishing in the 11th position. The fastest CRT rider so far was Aleix Espargaro, who finished both session in the 7th position.

Both Lorenzo and Pedrosa declared they would not take any unnecessary risks at Laguna Seca, as their goal is to just limit the point loss to the minimum possible.
