The brand new third-generation Mitsubishi Outlander that was just revealed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March has undergone crash safety testing at the hands of the Euro NCAP, scoring the maximum 5-star rating. This usually isn’t enough for us to call it a safe vehicle, but the Outlander performed very well in a number of categories.
Euro NCAP found that adult occupant protection was good in the case of a crash. The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger.

Meanwhile protection of child occupants was deemed to be good in both 3-year old and 18-month infant dummy tests. The front bumper provided good protection to pedestrians' legs and scored maximum points. However, the front edge of the bonnet offered poor protection in all areas tested, and the Outlander scored an average result of 64% in this category.

Safety assists seem to be Mitsubishi’s new forte, as the Outlander scored the perfect 100% in ESC testing, which you should check out in the videos below.
