2013 MINI Paceman Review by What Car?

Auto journalists are still trying to figure out what the MINI Paceman actually is. But we know it really doesn't matter if you call it a compact, a subcompact, a crossover or a coupe. The Paceman is simply a car you want to have from the first moment you see it.

What Car? took the Paceman for a quick spin and liked basically nothing about it, from the space in the back, to the steering which is heavy and the ride which is on the firm side of firm. These are usual MINI characteristics, but we think the Paceman is so good it could be their best seller for the rest of the year.

The jittery ride is not unlike any hot hatch, nor is the space in the back or the customization options. If you're so worried about how much leather seats cost, you honestly don't deserve the MINI lifestyle.

The one good thing Vicky Parrott points out is that you're going to be much better off with a more powerful Cooper S with a turbo engine and front wheel drive.

The first long-term report from the same magazine suggests they are actually exaggeration about the car being expensive. The Cooper S comes in at a basic list price of GBP 22,360 which birings you rear parking sensors, DAB digital radian and a rather nice interior.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
