Mercedes-Benz’s commercial vehicles division has recently presented a facelifted version of its Sprinter van, with the vehicle set to enter the market this spring.
The refresh is focused on tech development that increase the efficiency of the van, with the most importnat one being the adoption of the 7G-Tronic automatic gearbox as an option, which the automaker brags that operates smooth at temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius (-22 degrees Fahrenheit).
The Sprinter has been gifted with a BlueEFFICINECY pack that brings features such as low rolling-resistance tires, an ECO steering system, as well as an engine start/stop system. This allows the four-cylinder diesel engine of the van to return a combined cycle efficiency of 7.4 liters per 100 km. The figure can even drop to 7 liters per 100, if a high-ratio rear axle is chosen.
In addition to that, Mercedes also introduced an adaptive Electronic Stability Program that offers two new function: Electronic Brake Prefil and Brake Disk Wipe. The first prepares the braking system for action when the driver takes his foot off the gas, while the latter removed the water from the surface of the rotors.
