We can finally get a look at Lincoln’s new design language, as the MKS sedan for the 2013 model year was revealed at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. The idea behind the makeover was to make Lincolns look less like rebadged Fords, and it’s worked in our opinion.
You’d be tempted to call it a slight facelift, but you shouldn’t, because the only major part that’s been left unchanged is the roof and glass. The MKS sedan now has a new set of bumpers, grilles, and HID headlights and LED taillamps. The most radical change was made to the grille, which in combination with the new bonnet lines make the car look elegant but muscular.
On the technical side, the two most impressive changes come in the form of a bigger set of brake disks and the advanced Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD), which monitors road conditions and adapts the ride and handling.
The 3.7-liter V6 under the bonnet of the MKS now makes 300 horsepower instead of 274 hp. But the engine you really want is the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 355 that gets standard AWD.
