The Lamborghini Gallardo is about to receive a replacement and we are now probably one limited edition away from meeting the V10 supercar’s successor. Nevertheless, with so many special models around, the standard Gallardo was starting to become jealous. Lamborghini showed it some attention at last year’s Paris Motor Show, by introducing a refresh for the “normal” coupe and Spyder, if we can call them so.
If the Italians had done their job, it was our turn to do ours, so we recently took the 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 for a spin. Approaching the car, we noticed that the impression we had when we met it at the auto show was correct - they really made it look like a baby Aventador!
The front fascia is even more aggressive now and it makes the Gallardo resemble it’s V12 big brother. It was only normal for Lamborghini to pull out such a stunt, since the refresh is limited to aesthetic changes.
Don’t worry though, the ten cylinders may have remained untouched, but their poke and growl still feel like a cocktail of entertainment and intimidation.
The shift from first to second seems to tear our brains apart and the car struggles a bit before finding grip due to the sand that shamelessly sits on the tarmac. As for the hairpin that’s coming our way, we’ll talk about it in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 test drive.
