Some of you might say might say that the interior of a Korean car that they haven’t heard about in Europe or North America is a waist of time, but it really isn’t. You see, the Kia K9 is meant to be their flagship mode that bigger than the K7 (Cadenza).
What’s more, previous rumors said that the K9 would be coming to one of the major European auto shows this year. The news was never followed up properly but upon closer inspection of the spy photos we stumbled upon on thekoreancarblog.com, we realized that the 2011 Kia GT Concept that was unveiled in Frankfurt closely matches the lines of the K9 spotted in Korea.

It’s supposedly underpinned by the same chassis as the Hyundai Hyundai Equus and will get the same 5.0-liter GDI V8 engine with 429 horsepower and their own 8-speed automatic. The GT Concept from Frankfurt made use of a turbocharged V6 that sent its power to the rear wheels, but the industry is buzzing with the news that the other four-cylinder GDI-T units will also be used.

It’s expected that the spiritual successor to the Opirus or Amanti will be officially unveiled in spring of next year, but only in Korea. The North American and European versions are believed to follow in early 2013.

As for the interior itself, the K9 has Opirus written all over the steering wheel, so we know its name. The focus here is on luxury, with plenty of wood being used in ways we’ve never seen before. Taking inspiration from Mercedes, the buttons on the steering wheel are arranged in a circle. We have to say this is a really cool and original layout though.
