The news is not unreasonable at all, since the base 1.6-liter Veloster starts at $18,060 including destination. But the Turbo comes with so much more standard kit.

Let’s do a quick check of its competitors. A similarly powered MINI Cooper S comes in at $23,800 including destination. A scion tC is cheaper, but its 2.5-liter engine is ancient, while the FR-S sports coupe should come in at about $24,000.
The Veloster Turbo has 201 horsepower, does 38 mpg highway, comes with 18-inch wheels and Matte Grey paint. Yes, they got this one right!
