We’ve already seen a bit of the new Santa Fe already through spyshots and leaked photos, but we’re still impressed with the clean yet strong styling of the Sport version. This is a 5-seater model with more compact proportion s compared to the long wheelbase 7-seater which we’ll detail a bit later.

The 2013 Santa Fe Sport is 84.6 inches (4,690 mm) in length, 66.1 inches (1,680 mm) in height, 74 inches (1,880 mm) in width, and rides on a 106.3 inches (2,700 mm) long wheelbase.

From launch, it will be available with two engine choices - namely a 2.4-liter GDI with 190 hp and 181 lb-ft (245 Nm), plus a 2.0-liter T-GDI turbo with no less than 264 HP and 269 lb-ft (364 Nm) of torque.

Available as an option on the 2.4L and as standard on the Turbo, the Santa Fe gets ush-button starter with proximity key and a Supervision Cluster with TFT LCD screen. A heated steering wheel and sliding second row seats are optional first-class touches on Santa Fe Sport and Santa Fe Sport 2.0T. All engine options are available only with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Hyundai estimates the 2.4-liter GDI to be the most efficient on the US cycle: 33 mpg highway and 23 city. But the 2.0T isn’t far off the pace at 31 mpg highway and 22 city. We’ll have to wait for Paris and September to find out what the Santa Fe will be powered by in Europe.
