Hyundai recently announced the pricing for the 2013 Elantra Coupe, with the vehicle starting at $18,220, including a $775 destination charge. This is the pricing for the GS version, while the superior trim level comes with a starting price of $21,520, including the destination charge.
Thus, the vehicle’s entry-level price makes it $1,675 more expensive than the 2012 Honda Civic Coupe. This is only true for the base models, as when it comes to the superior trim level, the Civic Coupe is priced $2,875 higher.

However, Hyundai brags that its vehicle is superior: "Elantra Coupe also has a remarkable content advantage over Civic Coupe," a Hyundai Motor America statement reads. "For example, Elantra comes standard with a six-speed transmission and four-wheel disc brakes, features not found on any Civic Coupe."

We'll have to wait and see if Japan or South Korea wins this battle for affordable coupes.
