2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid Unveiled, Does 47 MPG

One of the most hotly anticipated models to debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show this year is the all-new Fusion, a model that has a full barrel of good looks to take on the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Yet the big story is not how much the grille looks like it came from an Aston Martin, but how efficient this car is, especially the Hybrid version also revealed today.

The old generation of Fusion Hybrid was a hit mainly due to its 41 mpg that it could do when unveiled back in 2009. No official EPA figures are yet available for the 2013 Hybrid, but Ford says it will do an amazing 47 mpg in the city driving and 44 mpg on the highway. These figures should outperform the Camry by quite a visible margin.

The performance comes thanks to a new ll-new 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder gasoline engine and all-new lithium-ion batteries which will also enable you to hit 62 mph in electric-only mode.
