Ducati's top Monster has become even more monstrous, so to speak. The new Monster 1200 is powered by the liquid-cooled Testastretta 11° engine which can be found in the Diavel and thins spells serious fun for the experienced rider.
The Borgo Panigale also kept on the development of new chassis designs, and the Monster 1200 comes with a small trellis frame with attaches directly to the engine, juts like the rear subframe. The new mill of the Monster 1200 will deliver 135 hp, pretty much what the lower-power mode on the Diavel offers, and 87 ft-lbs (118 Nm), and this means business.
Monster 1200 comes with exhausts similar to that of the Diavel as far as pipes are concerned, and they still look Monster-ish, despite being updated.
Brembo brakes, hydraulic clutch, ride by wire and a TFT display similar to the Panigale, the 2014 Monster 1200 is loaded with modern tech but retains the old-school attire.
The wet weight is 209 kg (461 lbs) and with a 17.5-liter (4.6 US gal) tank, this bike can really go far. Asphalt & Rubber estimates the Monster 1200 price tag around $13,495 (€9,990), which is kind of cool. The 1200S brings in Öhlins suspensions, carbon fiber trims and 145 hp for an even more extreme riding pleasure.
