BMW Review: 2013 DTM Season

The 10th and last race of the 2013 DTM Season took place Sunday and ended with a BMW win thanks to Timo Glock. The ex Formula 1 pilot took the checkered flag after 41 laps after starting out 4th.

This race marked the 51st win for the M3 in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft and the last one for the legendary model that will be replaced by the M4 starting with 2014.

Looking in retrospective, the 2013 season was rather successful for BMW, especially considering it was the second year after the company's return to the DTM in 2012 (that was also celebrated with a win in the Driver's Championship).

The statistics say a lot about the way the battle took place this year in the German competition: 5 wins, four pole positions and four fastest laps. After 10 races, BMW also managed to keep its DTM Manufacture title intact.

Furthermore, Marco Wittmann managed to win the 'Rookie of the Year' award, following in the footsteps of his colleague, Augusto Farfus. A number of impressive displays from the German.

He managed to finish on podium after only 3 races, a pole-position and clocked two fastest laps, all in his first season in the DTM. A worthy mention is the fact that the podium we won was part of a historic win for BMW, a 1-2-3 podium in Spielberg, the first one since 2012.

So, with such numbers and a new car, the 2014 Season looks promising right now, and we can't wait to see what the Chinese and Hungarian tracks will bring to the DTM.
