2013 Dodge Durango Recalled Due to Airbag Issue

Chrysler recently announced that it is recalling 1,661 units of the 2013 Dodge Durango due to a faulty module that could cause the side airbag to fail in certain accidents.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) explains that “"Some vehicles may have been built with the incorrect airbag occupant restraint control module. In the event of a side impact, rearward of the second-row seat, the supplemental side airbag inflatable curtain may not deploy as intended, increasing the risk of occupant injury."

Chrysler tells us that the source of the problem is the fact that seven-seat models were built using mislabeled modules that had been designed for five-seat models. The 2013 Dodge Durango recall is set to debut in September and dealers will replace the occupant-restraint control modules free of charge.
