Chrysler has announced a voluntary recall o certain 2013 Dodge Challenger models to repair an issue that could cause the engine bay to come ablaze.
Models equipped with the V6 motor and built during an eight-week period ending in January 24, 2013, have a wire harness that can overheat, potentially leading to a fire in the engine bay if conditions are right.
Chrysler says as many as seven such incidents have already taken place and is in a hurry to get all 2,500 Challengers built with this harness fixed. The total number of cars needing fixes is actually 4,459, but the rest are in dealer parking lots. Owners will be contacted by phone and Dodge will provide a free car from the rental fleet while the Challenger is being fixed. Minivan anyone?
