It seems like at the moment of writing the bikes still haven't started the final special stage of the 2013 Dakar. The Start was scheduled in La Serena for early in the morning, but low-altitude clouds covering much of the route caused the race officials to postpone the race for safety reasons.
Another tentative will be made at 9 am local time. The final stage of the 2013 Dakar rally ends in Chile's capital Santiago, and has a 279 km connection split in a 121 km liasion before the 346 km special stage and the final 158km connection.
With a mixture of sand and stones, Stage 14 is a rather technical one and will put both bikes and riders through very rough testing. Overall rankings see Despres in the lead, with Chile's Lopez 8 minutes down, followed by Ruben Faria, 6 minutes adrift from Lopez.
Update: The special stage finally started with an additional 15 minutes delay, but it looks like the last chapter of the 2013 Dakar is in the making.
