2013 Dakar: Despres' Hesitations in Stage 4 Cost Him Time

As we reported earlier, Joan Barreda Bort took Stage 4 of the 2013 Dakar for his team Husqvarna by Speedbrain. Despite him starting the race in position 24, it looks like barreda managed to find the best path across and around the dunes and took full advantage of the hesitations of Cyril Despres and other leaders of the pack.
Stage 4 was one of the longest of the 2013 Dakar, and started early, before 5 AM local time. Riders had to climb to altitudes in excess of 2000 meters (6,561 ft) and had a very steep descent in the 5 portion of the stage, more than 1600m (5,249 ft) across few kilometers.

Barreda Bort declared he was happy that so far he never got lost, despite some technical problems and some hesitations leading to his poor results on Monday. Soon the Stage 5will commence, and it's going to be a fast an furious one, with only 136 km of liaison and 274 km of specials.
