GM is celebrating the 6-th birthday of the legendary name by lanching the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition of the C6, which is likely the last major edition before the C7 arrives. But, this promises to be one heck of a ride, described by the automaker as "the fastest, most capable convertible in Corvette’s history".
Expect the celebratory edition model to also show the model year changes for the rest of the Corvette range at the upcoming Barrett Jackson collector car auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, on January 21st.

The car has been fitted with the 427 cubic inch, or 7.0-liter for non Americans, LS7 engine rated at 505 hp and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque. A manual six-speed gearbox ensures a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of in 3.8 seconds, plus a quarter mile sprint in 11.8 seconds.

“The 2013 model year will be historic for Corvette, marking its 60th Anniversary and the final year for the current ‘C6’ generation,” said Chris Perry, vice president, Global Marketing and Strategy for Chevrolet. “We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate these milestones than bringing back one of the most-coveted combinations in the brand’s history – the Corvette convertible and a 427 cubic-inch engine.”
