Chevrolet has released a set of images of the 1LE Performance Package for the Camaro SS, a development that targets those who like to drive on a track, but still want their car to be usable on the street.
The 1LE pack can be recognized by its matte black hood, front splitter and rear spoiler and 10-spoke ZL1-based wheels that use a black finish and are wrapped in the ZL1’s Goodyear Eagle Supercar G:2 tires. Climbing aboard, we find ZL1's flat-bottom steering wheel, trimmed in sueded-microfiber, as well as a short-throw shifter, which is also borrowed from the ZL1.
As for the tech side of the deal, this includes an exclusive Tremec TR6060-MM6 six-speed manual transmission and a numerically higher 3.91 final-drive, while the transmission features a standard air-to-liquid cooling system for track use. In addition to that, the rear twin-tube shock absorbers were replaced with monotube dampers.
Chevy is anticipating customer demand to enter the 1LE in amateur racing events and thus the carmaker is now seeking SCCA (Sport Car Club of America) approval for the Touring Class competition.
