It's now time for the 2013 Can-Am Spyder RT and ST to receive a recall. The NHTSA issued the recall campaign number 12V386000, aimed at 5,0542 Spyders sold as 2013 model year.
The iconic BRP reverse trikes may develop a problem in the braking system, with a double risk involved. Namely, the tandem brake master cylinder manifold inlet may melt due to excessive heat, and may allow brake fluid to leak out.

With the first safety hazard of decreased or completely absent braking power being obvious, this issue can also lead to a fire hazard, in case the brake fluid reaches a heat source.

BRP will notify the customers and will schedule the repairs to be carried out by dealers free of charge. Heat shields and deflectors will be installed. Owners can also get in touch with BRP at 1-888-638-5397 and ask for more details on this recall. Affected BRP vehicles should start coming in dealerships in early September.
