As the months go past and the market debut of the Cadillac XTS nears, it has become abundantly clear that this is more than just a large sedan with luxury features. It’s built in a very American way, but we actually say that in a good way. The choice of material is good, the way they’ve designed it to be modern on the road is also impressive, and we’re only now starting to scratch the surface when it comes to features.
Today, GM detailed one of the new systems that makes its debut with the car. The so-called Cadillac Safety Alert Seat is basically a seat that sends vibrations into your bottom to warn you of incoming traffic, thanks to advanced sensors spread all around the car. These include cameras, radars and ultrasonic sensors, and should keep you away from the dreaded body shop.
“It’s good to see automakers experimenting with new technology to help communicate to drivers when their driving is about to get them into trouble,” said Adrian Lund, president of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. “We commend GM for their innovative use of haptic feedback and hope that drivers find it helpful.”
