Encore is the name of Buick’s new semi luxury contender for the North American market, a compact crossover with room for five and a bit of wood on the dash. The 2013 model year Encore is a brand new vehicle, the fifth new entry from Buick in just as many years.
The crossover is based on the Chevrolet Sonic and is the first of three similar vehicles to be built by GM across the world under different brands. It’s not this or the engine that impress us the most, but the fact that it pull of an impressive look despite basically being a very small vehicle.
The Encore comes with standard features such as 10 airbags, Buick's voice-activated IntelliLink and a high-resolution, full-color seven-inch LCD display radio. We also know that the only powertrain right now is the 1.4-liter turbo from the Sonic with 40 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. Yes, all-wheel drive will be an optional extra, which means it’ more of a lifestyle vehicle.
