It's new, it's great, but obviously it's not perfect: the 2013 BMW R1200GS bikes gets its minor recall. BMW has recalled a small number of R1200GS machines (31 to be precise) to have them fixed and eliminate a transmission oil pressure issue.

Some bikes in the said series might have a transmission oil pressure exceeding the specified limits and this could lead to the output shaft sealing ring to leak. Chances are that in the eventuality of such a leak occurred, oil could end up covering the rear tire, posing a threat to rider safety.

BMW does not report any incidents caused by this problem and is currently reaching the customers to have their bikes serviced. An oil restrictor will be installed on the BMW R1200GS bikes to reduce the pressure and eliminate the leak hazard.

The servicing will be free of charge and will not affect the bike in any way. Future customers are advised to check with the dealers if the transmission issue has been addressed prior to having their bikes delivered.
