In a day and age when everyone is talking about downsizing, fuel efficiency and city cars, it seems at least odd to talk about a great 'whale' like the 7 Series, especially one that is fitted with the biggest engine BMW is currently manufacturing, the N74 V12.
The guys from GT-Spirit said enough is enough and took the impressive 760Li out for a drive to see wether this car is as useless and pointless as everyone out there is claiming it to be.

Looking at a 7er from outside might trick you into believing that there is no way this car could possibly be quick. And then you look under its bonnet and start shivering. The monster 12-cylinder engine pushes out 542 HP and 550 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. Those are the official numbers, but we suspect there might be even more power delivered to the rear wheels.

With this monster, the luxury car will go up to 100 Km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds and all the way you will be as comfortable as in your own bed, back at home. Even though this car is big and heavy (it weighs around 5,000 lb or 2.267 kg) you never feel like you're driving anything more than a 3 Series.

The dynamics and agility of the 760Li are most impressive. The computers under the dash must be working really hard in order to keep in so tight around the corners and so comfortable at the same time.

It's true, the people buying this car will, most likely, leave the driving to a chauffeur and they will just relax in the back after a long day of business meetings and high-class dinners but BMW thought about everything when developing this car. In case you just want to go for a drive in the weekend, aboard your $140,000 car, it's easy to enjoy it just as much as a 3er or even a 5er.

Bottom line, even though most manufacturers dropped the V12s and went with turbocharged V8s, BMW is still stubborn and keeps on delivering the unmistakable feeling a 12-pot petrol burner gives you because it knows that high-demanding customers still enjoy them.
