Doing 4-way comparison tests is getting more and more popular these days. Seeing just how close things are in the luxury sports sedan segment between 4 cars, it's easy to see why.
The guys from Car Advice took the best cars in this segment and pitted them against each other in a test of every possible thing, to give the best advice to people looking for such a car.
The contestants were : the BMW 320i Sport Line, Audi's A4 1.8 TFSI Sport Edition, Lexus IS250 F Sport and Mercedes-Benz's C200 BlueEfficiency model. It is a peculiar line-up but they are also the closest competitors.
The BMW has a 2-liter petrol, turbocharged engine with 180 HP and 270 Nm of torque, the Audi has a 1.8-liter turbo engine with 167 HP and 320 Nm of torque, the Lexus has the biggest engine of the line-up with 2.5-liters and 205 HP and the Mercedes-Benz has a 1.8-liter engine with 180 HP and 270 Nm of torque.
As for the transmission, we do have to say that the Bimmer came with the amazing 8-speed gearbox, the C200 had a 7-speed auto, the Audi came equipped with the CVT transmission whilst the Lexus used a 6-speed automatic.
The comparison included the interiors, ride, handling, feeling and other factors (even cup-holders were mentioned). Whilst we would like to say that we're pleased with the results, whereas in other tests the Mercedes came up last, this time things went a bit different.
