BMW has come to dismiss previous unofficial reports indicating that the upcoming 3-Series touring (wagon) will not be offered on the North American market. Paul Ferraiolo, BMW product planning and strategy manager, used the Detroit Auto Show to confirm that customers in North America will receive the wagon, codenamed F31, alongside the sedan, coupe and convertible, as BMW Blog writes.
The executive didn’t mention any schedule for the launch of the Touring version, but the vehicle should arrive late this year or early next year, being introduced as a 2013 model year. The engine range will be carried on from the sedan, which means that we’ll get turbocharged four- and six-piston petrol and diesel units, with an ActiveHybrid model also being possible.
