Toyota is heading to the Paris Motor Show with more cars than we can count this year, but mainly to showcase a new family of front-wheel drive hatchbacks and people cars.
We’ve already seen plenty of the new Auris. In fact, some might say we’ve seen too much all together, as the car, or rater the company has sparked outrage with some really strange commercials.
What we haven’t seen yet is the new Auris Tourer, an estate model built on the same platform and offering a big boot, as well as what looks like a longer wheelbase.
Toyota will offer the Auris Tourer with petrol, diesel and hybrid power trains, the latter being a first in this segment for the European market. The estate model will share the engine range with the Auris, meaning a 1.4-liter turbo diesel, 1.33-liter and 1.6-liter petrols.
We’ve managed to enhance a blurry and dark image released by Toyota to reveal very similar styling to the regular five-door Auris. Key changes have been made from the rear doors going back. The greenhouse tapers downwards instead of up like on the Auris. Obviously, there’s a big overhang.
The car in the photo appears to be a hybrid, with blue rings arond the badging and blue lights, besides the obligatory “hybird” badging.
