Quietly, discretely, the side of this Audi four-door says “V8 T”. That might not sound important, but it means that under its bonnet is a 4-liter, 420 horsepower twin-turbo V8.
Audi says that this is enough to push the brand new 2013 S7 from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.9 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. That’s not bad considering this $78,800 super sedan is also very comfortable.

With specs like that, the S7 is a perfect basis for a custom wheels project. Vossen Wheels have added a set of their concave CV1 wheels, a massive 22-inch size finished in matte black machined look. To our taste, a simpler five-spoke design would have been more unique on this car.

You might jump the gun and say that the S7 is a coupe. But actually, it's a sexy hatchback. The cool thing about it is that the engine is similar to the Bentley Continental GT V8 and the power difference between the two is minimal.

You could call the S8 just a redesigned S6, but that's like saying a racing horse is just a faster donkey. Both have hooves and four legs, plus you can mate them if you're crazy. However, the steed has an ambitions temper and attracts a lot of attention.

That's not to say the S7 is an aggressive racing machine. It's still defined by the comfort of its seats and the S-Class-like quiet cabin. However, when you put your foot down, the 450 horsepower twin-turbo engine unleashes itself.

Sure, four exhaust pipes are standard, but any Audi model is defined by its options list. We think the S7 needs adjustable suspension and an upgraded interior. You could be looking to spend as much as $100,000.

Customers for the S7 range from corporate badasses and attorneys to skaters and professional gamers. All have a passion for German understated design and power.
