Audi has just given a new training to its main soldier, the A4, a vehicle that has convinced over 10 million customers until now and is now offering us the 2013 model year version of the mid-size car in the sedan, Avant (wagon), Allroad Quattro and S4 versions. If you came to this page thinking that you’ll find the new RS4, we’re sorry to inform you that this isn’t the case.

Moving on, we’ll tell you that the exterior modifications are similar to those introduced for the A5 range at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The A4 has new dimensions albeit not too different of its past one, with the sedan and Avant being 4.70 meters (15.42 ft) long and the Allroad Quattro and S4 measuring 4.72 meters (15.49 ft) in length. All the versions come with the same 2.81 meters (9.22 ft) wheelbase, with the width standing at 1.83 meters (6.0 ft) and 1.84 meters 96.04 ft), respectively. AS for the height, this climbs form 1.41 meters (4.63 ft) to 1.50 meters (4.92 ft).

Inside the car, we also get fine touches, such as new steering wheels and trimming options, as well as little details.

As for the tech side of the revamp, Audi has brought increased outputs for multiple engines and yet has reduced the average fuel consumption by 11 percent. In Europe, customers will be able to select between four petrol units and six oil burners, while the US will get two or three petrol powerplants.

At the bottom of the range, we find a new 1.8-liter TFSI petrol unit (it’s not clear yet whether this will be brought to the US or not) that produces 170 hp and a peak torque of 320 Nm (236 lb-ft).

There’s also a revised 2.0-liter TDI diesel that can be had in three power levels, producing 136, 163 or 177 hp. The list of technical novelties also includes a revised suspension and a new electromechanical power steering, so the revamped A4 should really feel different on the bends.

The facelifted Audi A4 is set to arrive in the US in the summer of next year, with Audi expected to also bring the A4 Allroad to America.

Our say: the battle with the new BMW 3-Series and the revamped Mercedes-Benz C-Class is now on!
