Notice how this piece of news starts with “2013”? This is obviously because the US uses a one-year-ahead name policy - in Europe this car is called the 2012 A3, since it was launched in 2012. Well, what’s the point in calling the A3 by its American name if this car won’t make it to the US?
That’s right folks: since the demand for hatchbacks in America is nothing compared to that in Europe, the carmaker won’t bring its new compact to the US.

You can stop worrying now - Audi will give Americans a new A3, but this will come in a sedan form, as this body type is much more appreciated in the US. Audi of America CEO Johan de Nysschen told The Detroit Bureau that the saloon won’t share any body panels with the hatch that has just been launched at the Geneva Motor Show.

In addition to that, the US-spec A3 sedan is expected to be a little bit more upmarket, with the tendency being the most easy to spot inside the car.
