Audi gave the new A3 to the public today at the Geneva Motor Show and the vehicle doesn’t necessarily impress in terms of design as it is pretty close to the outgoing generation. However, the tech side of the compact shines, as it rides on an all-new platform.
Audi has also released a video that offers us some driving scenes, but before you move on to that, let us remind you a few things about the new model. Underneath the conservative styling cues, we’ve got the VW Goup’s new MQB modular platform, which, for this application, has been cut to a size that results in the following exterior dimensions: length - 4,237mm , width - 1,421mm and height - 1,777mm. The wheelbase has been increased by 23 mm, which means that the passengers now have some extra room.
In addition to that, the vehicle tips the scales at 1,175 kg (2,590 lbs), which makes it 80 kg (176.37 lbs) lighter than the previous generation. As for the engine range, the vehicle will be launched with a 1.4 TFSI petrol engine (122 HP), an 1.8 TFSI engine (178 HP), as well as with a frugal 2.0TDI diesel unit (143 HP).
