Earlier this month, a set of patent fillings revealed the 2013 Acura RLX and we are now back on the topic to tell you that the vehicle could be built in the US. Honda currently builds the car in Japan, but this could change, as The Japan Times (via Carscoop) reports that the carmaker will terminate production of two sedan models at its Saitama Prefecture site, with the two being the Honda Legend and the Acura RL.
This would make financial sense, as the strong Japanese yen and the weak US dollar makes building cars in Japan and selling them in the US a business with smaller profit margins. More importantly, the automaker can turn to US production thanks to the fact that negative perception on the build quality of US-produced cars has been left behind in the last few years.
The upcoming RLX needs to make up for the declining sales of the current model, which have registered a 76 percent fall so far this year.
