The world’s first production plug-in diesel hybrid, the Volvo V60-based estate, has just gone on sale in the United Kingdom, with prices set between GBP45,000 and 50,000, not including what the government owes you for buying such a clean car.
Other than the powertrain, the car is pretty boring, only coming in one color, Electric Silver, and only in combination with 17 inch aero wheels.
Speaking of the powertrain, this consists of a 2.4-litre turbo diesel rated at 215 HP and 440 Nm of torque that is linked to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. An electric motor also comes into play, powering the rear axle with its 70 hp, juiced by a 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
The V60 Plug-In Hybrid has three different modes - Pure, Hybrid and Power - and can even emit as little as 49 g/Km of CO2, which is very Prius PHEV-like.
