Just a few weeks ago, Volkswagen of Australia revealed images and details of its newly refreshed VW Eos hardtop convertible. At the time it was just a hunch that VW would take its girly convertible to the big-boys club in LA, but now we have confirmation that the new Eos will be making its worldwide debut at the 2010 LA Auto Show.

The automotive giant claims the Eos has been "perfected", and the first thing you'll notice about this car is the front and rear fascias, which suffered an alignment with VW's latest releases. The new headlight designs give the vehicle a more aggressive look, further differentiating it from the feminine look the old one employed, meaning that the new model will probably enjoy more popularity with the male buyers.

The interior was also reshaped, now available in several color options and with "Matte Chrome" detailing on the instrument panel and doors. Higher trim lines come with walnut wood inserts and "Vienna" leather seats.

The Eos is powered by the powerful and efficient 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. With modern technology like turbocharging and direct fuel injection, the powerplant delivers 200 horsepower and develops 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque. Fuel mileage is rated at 22 mpg (10.6 liters per 100 km) for city driving and 31 mpg (7.5 l/100 km) on the highway.

The roof of the new Eos fully opens (and closes) in just 25 seconds and is operated automatically with the push of a button. An innovative option for a convertible is the fully functional sunroof with shade, allowing an open-air experience even when the hardtop is up.

After its revealing at the LA Auto Show, VW will probably begin deliveries of the Eos sometime in March.
