2012 Volkswagen Beetle Takes Accessory Configurator to Next Level

We saw this one coming a mile away: Volkswagen is making a big deal out of the customization process with the 2012 Beetle, or what it calls the 21st Century Beetle. They did it with the old one, and there are bound to be more shiny custom touches on this one than a 15th century chandelier.
The German carmaker has just released this very interesting little video detailing the way in which you can create your dream car. The whole thing is vaguely reminiscent of a Need for Speed game. We really love the futuristic approach and the way you can order the emblem in different versions. You can have “Bug” on the boot lid, Beetle on the door sills and Volkswagen on the doors.

That’s not even the limitation to the graphics options, and there’s bound to be more coming, as MINI has been doing this for a while with the Cooper, and VW won’t want to be left behind. The best part is the “Turbo” on the key, telling people yours has extra poke.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
