For one of the most epic SEMA builder challenges ever, Scion gave three brand new FR-S coupes to three different builders from across America. The winner would get $10,000 in prize money, plus eternal glory in the halls of Las Vegas.
This awesome looking machine was created by Daniel Song and is probably going to remind everybody of a Ferrari 599XX, a Zonda, or some other extreme racing machine. Yes, that’s right, it’s our favorite!
Daniel Song is a California builder, and this shows in the low stance, which comes thanks to a trick air suspension. This is not ideal for a racing car, but it’s excelent for a show car because you can raise it to enter venues.
So, let’s see what else Daniel was able to do in the limited time he had with the FR-S. The exterior is done in carbon fiber, centering around the JONSIBAL designed widebody kit. The racing look is provided by a 5-piece aluminum diffuser, a huge rear spoiler with custom mounts, carbon fiber rear air foil with upright stabilizers and plenty of other goodies.
The interior is stripped out and filled with a race-spec roll cage, Sparco bucket seats, a 4-point racing harness, a quick release steering wheel and Sparco Racing shifter. There’s plenty of carbon fiber interior panels, like the doors, the radio delete and HVAC delete.
The engine is also a masterpiece: Vortech supercharger, cat delete exhaust, as well as racing parts for everything from the flywheel to the battery.
