Three cars, three builders from across America, three months to complete something that will blow people’s minds. This is the challenge set by Scion for this year’s SEMA Show, and this is the FR-S created by Chris Basselgia from Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
The modifications are meant to be function, a work of art but not going way over the top and creating something that no longer belongs on the road. This refreshing approach resulted in the creation of “minty FReSh” Scion FR-S. While one of his competitors opted to create more of a racing car with no stereo system, Basselgia opted to focus more on the sound system as a musician. This attention to detail and the build quality is probably what won him the challenge award.

Instead of bolt on clutter, Chris went for a clean style, evident in the molded exhaust, duck bill spoiler, wiper delete and shaved antenna. The paintjob is done in Fresh Mint and Matte Root Beer. How cool is that!

The engine bay has also been targeted, with a Eaton M62 supercharger, performance intercooler, exhaust and intake. For the suspension, Chris went with Airlift FR-S double bellow air struts.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
