Ever felt envious of your Ferrari- and Lamborghini-driving friends for having paddles behind the steering wheel? Well now, there’s a solution for you Corvette drivers.
At the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, a company called Master Shift presented their aftermarket paddle shifter for the Corvette C6 generation.
When coupled to the Borg-Warner T-56, the Master Shift system eliminates the manual gearbox shifter completely. Since this is not an automatic, the clutch still has to be used to activate the shift.
The paddles are basically only used to select the gear you want to be in, and you have to “stab” the clutch to change it.
It seems like an imperfect system, and the timing on the shifts is between 250 and 300 miliseconds, which isn’t bad, but nowhere near what Ferraris and Lamborghinis can do.
