With the brand new C7 ‘Vette just around the corner, we though it would be interesting to take a look at its predecessor, the iconic C1 that moved the American sportscar game in the whole new direction. The 2012 SEMA Show was graced by the presence of one of the most interesting customs of recent years, the 1962 Corvette C1RS, a custom created by Roadster Shop.
The car has won many awards for its design and will be up for grabs at the famous Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, scheduled for January 13-20, 2013.
C1RS reinvents the quad headlight look of later C1 Vettes in a new and revolutionary way. Built by Roadster Shop, it features a blend of carbon fiver components and hand-formed aluminum panels.
The chassis and drivetrain are also just as modern. For instance, it’s got remote adjustable shocks, 14-inch vented Brembo disk brakes with 6-piston calipers, three-piece wheels and the piece of resistance: an LS7 crate motor with 618 horsepower mated to a Tremec T56 Bowler 6-speed transmission and Ford 9” rear end.
