Toyota announced last week that the 2012 Scion xD will have a base price of $15,345 (CAD15,076 at the current exchange rate) for the model equipped with a five-speed manual transmission and the usual 1.8-liter engine.
This means that prices have now increased by $235 over the 2011 model year, but the xD now brings more kit as standard.
This includes streaming audio, Bluetooth, and HD radio, which are excellent features for a car that’s priced just above $15,000. The 2012MY also brings with it a six-speaker sound system that features a personalized welcome screen.
As an optional extra, you can have this with a 5.8 inch touch-screen, which is clearly targeted at younger buyers. No changes have been made by Toyota’s division under the hood, as the xD still packs 128 horsepower from a 1.8 liter 4-cylinder engine with dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i).
Deliveries will commence across the US starting next month. This five-door compact needs some bigger updates, as it dates back to 2007’s Chicago Auto Show.
