If you want to race a Porsche, this is the best you’ll be able to get for the 2012 season: the new 911 GT3 RSR. Nope, it’s not based on the new 991 generation of the 911. But since we’re talking about an extreme four-wheeled creation, you really can’t be disappointed.
The new car can be distinguished by its 48mm increased width and air intakes in its rear arches, which replace the previous model’s engine cover scoop.

At the back (duuh!) we find a 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer, forced to wear the mandatory air restrictor, that works together with a six-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifter to punish a set of 12.2-inch (310 mm) wide rear wheels with 460 hp.

Our customer teams can expect a technically mature, high performance race car with which they will be highly competitive at international long distance races,” said Porsche’s Head of Motorsport, Hartmut Kristen.

The 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR will hit the racetracks from January next year, coming with a price of EUR498,00 (taxes not included)/$684,000 at the current exchange rates. In case you happen to have that kind of money forgotten somewhere around the house, you should know that the car can be used for turning ambition to reality in the Le Mans 24 Hours, the FIA World Endurance Championship, the International GT Open and the Le Mans Series, amongst others.
