2012 Porsche 911 Configurator Comes Online

The brand new Porsche 911 has been unveiled, the first truly fresh chassis in a while. While some people might be disappointed with just the base Carrera, we’re not among them, as we think that this is one of the best value for money sportscars on the market. For about the same money as a BMW M3, you get the result of 50 years of development and the majority of the technology that the Turbo has.

Both the new Carrera with its downsized 3.4-liter flat-six and the Carrera S are scheduled to hit the market this December, and to make the wait a little bit more enjoyable, Porsche has finally plugged in their online configurator, providing us with endless hours of arduous fun with the 911.

There’s a choice of four standard colors, seven metallic that will cost you $710 more, and three special colors that for $3,140. These include GT Silver and Lime Gold, which are both very nice and well worth your heard-earned money, but we’d much rather drive along in the classic Cognac tone that seems to be making a comeback across the Porsche Range.

Only three choices for the wheels are available right now, and we went for the chunky looking 20-inch SportDesign ones for $390 and added center caps with colored enamel Porsche crests that are worth every dimes.

Inside, our Carrera S got the full leather treatment in beige, costing us $6,010 virtual dollars. The final price: a hefty $107,075 for the car, due to the $9,725 worth of options boxes we ticked.
