2012 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S US Pricing Announced

Today, August 23rd, marks the beginning of a new chapter in The Book of the 911, as the seventh generation sportscar was officially revealed by the German carmaker. In coming year, we’re bound to see countless new variants, offering race suspension, turbocharging, four wheel drive or bright decals, but for now we will focus on the Carrera and Carrera S. Porsche has officially revealed today that the base Carrera will set its US customers back a total of $82,100 when deliveries start in February 2012. This is enough to make German customers very envious, as the European version costs almost €90,000. The base model will now come with a 3.4-liter flat-six engine capable of delivering 350 horsepower. This is enough to a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.4 seconds with the optional PDK dual-clutch gearbox. Moving further up the range, the new Carrera S offers the same 3.8-liter engine, this time packing 400 horsepower, 15 more than the previous generation.
