Nissan was all sure that the 2012 Versa was going to be a hit, as subcompact buyers really don’t want style and only car about the price and practicality. This resulted in a very drab and boring looking car that was soon forgotten by the auto media.
Today, it might get a bit of attention back, but for the wrong reasons: Nissan is recalling 976 2012 Nissan Altima and Versa sedans to fix a side curtain airbag problem, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The automaker attributes this to an error made by the supplier, Autoliv. A similar issue has plagued a number of other carmakers this year, but thankfully these two Nissans haven’t been on sale for long.

"These vehicles may be equipped with side curtain airbags that contain an incorrect propellant mixture for the initiator component used, resulting in insufficient output of compressed gas," said the NHTSA. "The side curtain airbags may not deploy, increasing the risk of injury."
