With just a few weeks left in the year, Ford has decided to play Santa with its US customers. The new 5.0-liter Mustang GT just got a little cheaper and a little better, thanks to the addition of a new color for both the exterior and the interior.

If you are looking to buy a brand new pony soon, you’ll be glad to hear that Ford had dropped $500 (EUR374) off the price for the base model 412-horsepower in 2012 model year form. This puts the car under the $30,000 (EUR22,472) mark, at $29,995 (EUR22,469). However, the Premium GT model sees a price increase of $200 (EUR149) while the Premium GT Convertible is $700 (EUR524) more expensive than last year.

No revolutionary changes have been made to the car, but there are a few updates to keep the cars fresh. In true festive spirit, Ford will be offering a new color, Lava Red Metallic, available on both the exterior and interior. The new tone will replace Sterling Gray Metallic, which will no longer be available.

Other features added include an universal garage door opener and sun visors with a storage system and illuminated vanity mirrors. The EPAS steering system will now also come in three mode variants: Comfort, Normal and Sport. EPAS has changed the way the new Ford Mustang GT drives compared to the old model, delivering quicker on-center steering response, increased effort at highway speeds and reduced effort required in low-speed maneuvers.

The 2012 model still offers several convenient technologies, including Standard message center, Integrated blind spot mirrors, MyKey™ programmable vehicle key, Illuminated visors and Sun visor storage.
