If you think that not having a roof over your head in the summer is going to make a world of difference while at the wheel of a brand new MINI, we have bad news for you. Official pricing information for the 2012 MINI Roadster has been released, and chopping the roof off has added about $3,000 on average over the Coupe.
The 2012 MINI Cooper Roader base model will set you back $25,050, for which you get the base 1.6-liter with 121 horsepower. Next up is the Cooper S Roadster, which starts at $28,050 and offers a more respectable 184 hp from a turbocharged version of the same engine. This offers hothatch levels of performance with a 0 to 60 mph time of 7 seconds and a top speed 141 mph.

You can’t have a diesel in the States, but you can have the top-of-the-range JCW Roadster with 206 horsepower, and a more track-focused attitude. This costs $35,200, and will be available in the spring, just like the other versions.

Make sure you don't drag race a Camaro convertible that's similarly priced...
