2012 Mercedes Benz CLS US Pricing Starts at $71,300

When it comes to good looks in the four-door coupe segment, it’s hard to beat the CLS. Other carmakers have tried, but this handsome-looking brute is still the car to buy if you are a businessman with a passion for style and power.

There’s a new version of the car coming to the US this summer and the good news is that prices will start at $71,300 for the CLS550, excluding destination and delivery charge. The model packs a new biturbo, direct-injection 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 402 horsepower and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque.

The only other member of the range right now is the beastly CLS63 AMG, which is also powered by Mercedes’ new biturbo, direct-injection V8 engine. The 5.5-liter lump under the bonnet is rated at 518HP and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. Pricing for the range-topper starts at $94,900, not including a $875 destination and delivery charge.

"The new CLS63 AMG continues the success story of the previous models, the CLS55 AMG and CLS63 AMG, which have delighted our customers all around the world since 2004," according to Ola Kallenius, Head of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. "The CLS63 AMG is a unique high-performance car - it sets new standards in design, performance and efficiency."

Optional extras include Active Parking Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Ambient lighting, COMAND APS multimedia system, Digital radio (DAB), Driving Assistance package Plus (DISTRONIC PLUS, BAS PLUS, PRE-SAFE brake, Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Blind Spot Assist), Speed Limit Assist, Harman Kardon Logic7 surround sound system, KEYLESS-GO package, Media interface, Night View Assist Plus, Tyre pressure monitoring system, Reversing camera, Front climatised seats, Lane Tracking package (Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist) and TV tuner.
