Lexus Australia has officially announced that both the ES 350 and the brand new 300h will be offered in the Land Down Under starting in the forth quarter of 2013. Both models will compete in a very tough mid-size luxury market and offer their own dusting blend of features.
The ES was discontinued from the Australian market before, but market conditions are different from what they were eight years ago.
The ES 350 is of course powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing with Dual VVT-i that delivers 268 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 248 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 4,700. The six-speed sequential-shift automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) is equipped as standard.
The ES300 is a brand new model powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder running the Atkinson cycle and generating 200 total horsepower with the help of the electric motor.
“It’s a different car with different styling. A more dynamic looking car with a different platform. It’s not based on an Aurion platform,” said Lexus Australia’s chief executive, Sean Hanley.
