2012 K1 Evelio Electric Sportscar to Take on Tesla

There is nothing more beautiful than a perfect combination between looks and brains, and when we talk of these two qualities we tend to think of the 2012 K1 Evelio. When we say that it has good “looks” it is obvious why. But let’s talk about “brains.” The K1 Evelio is the latest entrant to the fuel saving space in the market that already has the likes of Tesla Roadster and Fisker Karma battling for 1st position.

K1 Evelio was first shown at the Goodwood festival of speed. The manufacturer had dreamed up a sportscar that spewed clean air instead of CO2. In order to make that possible they got rid of the petrol underpinnings and replaced it with an electric powertrain. The car’s body is made out of fiberglass with the small structures born out of aluminum, making the car lighter and more nimble. Using carbon fiber for the body and aluminum will lower the car’s weight but at the same time raise the costs of manufacturing.

The engineering team behind the K1 Evolio installed an unconventional phosphate-based lithium ion battery pack. The advantage of using such technology is that the chemical and thermal stability are superior to standard technology. The car can run from 100 to 150 miles before recharging the battery pack, according to Company Owner Alex Letteriello. Also worth mentioning is that these claims need to be tested in real conditions.

So far, the K1 Evelio seems to have found the perfect mix to make it to the production line, and we shall keep an eye on this supercar to see how things evolve.
