The European arm of Honda’s “in-house” tuner Mugen is still developing the vehicle, but the company did offer us certain info. The 1.5-liter engine of the CR-Z has been fitted with a centrifugal forced air induction system, as well as with a new induction system that includes a change-air cooler.

All the goodies are managed by a new ECU map, allowing the unit to deliver 175 hp. That might not sound like much in a world where average hot hatches have gone past the 200 hp mark, but the CR-Z iCF Mugen manages to impress, as it also uses electric power and promises to offer a 0 to 62 mph sprint time of 6.1 seconds, one of the best in the FWD sub-segment of the hot hatch category.

The hot hybrid will be available for test drives the eight Honda UK Mugen dealers staring from the spring of next year, with pricing set for approximately GBP24,000 (EUR27,945 or $37,245).
